Stumped again -

but - Tipsters comments on grade 1's this year make for interesting reading and confirms my comments on racing in SA in the modern age.

Thanks Karel - the usual suspects keep popping up and the bulk have the same serious backers behind them.

Off the topic slightly Mrs O had a brilliant year in terms of grade 1 wins and places.

Look worldwide and the trend is plain for all to see. Oil Sheiks, supreme rulers the Queen, all very succesful in racing. Frikadell with his 5 grand horse and no support from investors can never compete consistantly at the same level no matter how good he is.

More weight to the discussion - this years Gold Cup trainer owner combo (1st and 2nd in the race). Take nothing away from Mr Page, great training feat, but the owner factor stands out, regardless of whether the trainer is sent 1st 2nd or 3rd string horses.

Mrs O has horses in KZN as well. In fairness, while not a Gr 1 winner, Prestic has done well.

...and it in all probability be one of those horses that wins KZN a grade 1 or at least a horse from a more prominent owner. Mrs O probably one of the only prominent owners who support the KZN boys.
