Canford Cliffs to face tough test in Prix Morny
France: Runaway Royal Ascot winner Canford Cliffs is likely to face a testing assignment in France on Sunday when the Prix Morny looks set to feature a clash between the top two-year-olds seen so far this season in Britain, France and Ireland.
Made favourite for next year's Stan James 2,000 Guineas after his spectacular Coventry Stakes romp, Canford Cliffsis bang on course for Sunday's Group 1 contest over 6f at Deauville.
However, Aidan O'Brien has entered his Phoenix Stakes one-two Alfred Nobel - described as a "definite possibility" by his trainer - and Air Chief Marshal, while Criquette Head-Maarek is keen to run Prix Robert Papin winner Special Duty.
Also in line for the Darley-sponsored Morny are Brian Meehan's July Stakes winner Arcano and Sheikh Mohammed's Zanzibari, impressive winner of the Group 3 Prix de Cabourg last time out for Andre Fabre from Sorciere, who had beaten Special Duty on her debut.
Blue Square installed Canford Cliffs as their 1-2 favourite for the Morny in front of 7-2 chance Alfred Nobel.
"Everything is fine with Canford Cliffs and he runs on Sunday," said Richard Hannon jnr. "The form of the Coventry Stakes has turned out really well. He is a good horse."
Darley also sponsor the Prix Jean Romanet on Sunday's card, but a small turnout looks likely despite the race's being upgraded to Group 1 status this year.
Only five were left in the _250,000 event at Wednesday's forfeit stage, among them last year's Prix de l'Opera winner Lady Marian, who is now trained by Saeed Bin Suroor.

Might be true Hibby, but I am trying to narrow my list down of "great" horses at the moment and still have a strong list, I am sure most would agree that Sariska has to go?

TRAINER Michael Bell revealed that Sariska, who finished three-quarters-of-a-length second in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday afternoon, was found to be in season after the race.
The three-year-old suffered a shock defeat at odds of 4-11 by the John Gosden-trained Dar Re Mi in the Group 1, and while Bell's initial reaction was that the quicker ground had played a part in her defeat, he since discovered that she was in season, which he admitted could well have played a part.
He said: "It's a very significant factor. There were no signs before the race, and being in the race has triggered it. It's something to bear in mind."

I did mean to post yesterday, Sariska getting beat was painful however credit where its due to Tellytrack, they had a local meeting, the split screen timing was perfect, they crossed over as the Oaks was off and caught the canter past at the Vaal, keep it up.
