Listen guys before we get carried away with anything lets remember Oracy didn't even have to run to his rating to beat this field, for me Meet at Malamala is far more than 3 pounds inferior and so it proved today.

I wouldn't be shouting from the rooftops yet, obviously Oracy is a class act but he's still got to prove it against the top older horses. Lets see how the handicapper treats him...

Maybe Oracy deserves now to be a little shorter than 5/1 in my betting but I certainly would not make him favorite. I think Dan de Lago is a worthy favorite right now but the race seems to be quite open.

I'm impressed with Aslan and I have a soft spot for the strapping grey from the A Laird yard...Captain Scott!!! I don't think we have seen the best of him yet!

Where is the official betting???????????????????????

Just some feedback, have also sent on to the KZN bookies for comment
Also asked Interbet to field up without odds, but they feel if the punter puts in a request, they would prefer the bookies to match the request.
Will keep you informed, here is a reply from Interbet on the planned betting.

Hi Dave,
As soon as the bookmakers price up we will open the event. Here are the timelines:
- Final entries close on Monday 2 November when the weights will also be announced.
- Final acceptances fall due on Monday 16 November.
- The final field will be announced on Wednesday 18 November.
My guess is that they will wait until 2 Nov but if they do price up earlier or you can encourage your contacts at the KZN Bookmakers Society to do so we will open the event.
Cheers for now
Johnny

it must be great to be in the bookmaking business..here you have people wanting to give you business but you turn it away..over 100 bookies in south africa and nobody wants the business..legalise betfair and get rid of these termites

Wish I knew myself.I wasn't prepared to even look at the race until the betting came out,as it may have been only after the race :-)

Will start having a look in the next few days, but picking Summer Cup winners would hardly be at the top of my resume.De Kocks record is impeccable,so that's probably the 1st place to start looking.

I am just having a look at the early "exchanges" might find a bargain.
