A jock in my opinion must be totally independent and only work for the trainer who he will ride for on any specific day.
The only time a jock and an owner must communicate must be in the parade ring.
If you have a jocks number IMHO it will be because you don't trust your trainers comment on a horse.

I might be wrong.

The only reasons the jockeys have our numbers..

ie.. we are on top of their fools list..
yep..they have a fools list..
and we do our best to get to the number one spot..on his fools list...

is to...

PUT R50K on the horse...for him..what did you think...for you...????
or
3 days after monthend...Can I see you for R20K...
