There has been comment that maidens often run and win in handicap races in the UK and yet there is a reluctance to do so in SA.
Again there would need to be a change to programming as it appears that the lowest H'cp locally is Class E,whereas UK drop all the way to class F and class G which gives maidens a more realistic chance, and where most compete!

Must admit i miss the old days where we had the division races. We had Top division, A division, A & B D ivision up to E division. They should bring that back and like Mr. H & Rob says include a F division for merit rated horses below 65 but higher than 55 including maidens as well as an G division for all horses lower than 55 merit rating including maidens...
It feels to me that they so often just stage a certain merit rated race to suit certain horses that sometimes just falls below or above that rating and truth be told with utmost respect to the horse why should a horse like HEAR THE DRUMS be trated so well just because a race gets created for him...it's like getting the exam answers the day before...That means if POCKET POWER turns 8 he can come to PE and contest race after race and break the record...in the special race created just for HTD.
I feel sorry for a horse like KINGS TROOP who has to compete at that level and cannot win as the race doesn't suit him and his merit comes down one point every run but can only earn places...an unlucky [stuck] 7 time winner...no raeated for him...

RAD,
I know a lot more about the tote side of things than I do handicapping and race scheduling, even though I'm learning at quick rate!
I will try and find out a little more about the race scheduling and if Dave agrees maybe we could write them another letter in which we ask them to explain why the race schedules favour certain groups of horses. I cannot promise anything as we have not really even been given great answers on the tote issue, but we will continue to push them for better answers and more secure procedures.
Keep the faith RAD, I remember reading somewhere that P have scheduled morerace meetings this year. Whether the issue will be resolved or not, I'm not sure.
They also cannot continue cancelling meetings without rescheduling them. That just seems silly!!!

Not so silly if you beleive punters will continue to bet on English racing - The truth is some will(a small %) the larger majority will not.

Morning Rad have sent an email same as Tommy, if I get reply will post, have to agree its very frustrating you wait for a few weeks nominate and then have to start the entire process again and then the "horse needs a run"!

Where is the RA in all this? Is their sole purpose for existing not owners issues?
And you pay to belong to the RA? Most organisation in South Africa will give you the cold shoulder for free. Ask for a refund.

The RA sole purpose is to look after their own kind.
Dont you guys understand business.
dont like their style,...then vote one of your kind in to run the show.
mobilize the boere and vote them out..

I have been on the RA's case forever; check out the 'Race Program on the Highveld' thread - we have been here before
