racing is not ringfenced..yet

hence we can write off all the profits we make from out other ventures and companies in our bookie.

we put the time in as 5 min early, and add winning bets every race where the favourite wins. that way the bookie is making a huge loss.
we call it and extention of the HILL, CORMACK, SHEA ringing bells..

the other ventures and companies we have, have to keep pumping money into the bookie..its legal...
we pay the vat over to SARS and pay ourselves the cash of every winning bet.

we take the gambling board to luch every month, make them motherless drunk..and they can drink..believe me..wer can pay them a few bribes too..Mauritius trips to go and investigate Marlon's schemes...

we will be the best RACETEERS the country has ever seen..
will will wash the money..millions a day..

You can easily check the time printed on your ticket and the time the race went off. If you placed it after the race when off, then you dont stand a chance...

I remember a few years ago placing a bet on a horse that was wrongly priced up by an online bookie. When they caught up before the race they voided my bet and returned my stake. When I queried it they said it was a mistake and therefore all bets had been voided.

The question at the end of the day is will they also void our bets when we make mistakes or will they keep the money?

As a punter, there is never a way of winning....

Ive experienced that some bookies in KZN have their own rules regarding overseas racing.
Highly possible that race closing time rules are executed by that bookie,however a bet was struck,money was exchanged and a receipt issued!
Further,most punters deal with betting clerks and not the bookies themselves.
Keen to learn outcome.

from my experiences you have very little chance of getting satisfaction from the society after all they look after their own kind as with many aspects of our thriving racing industry..

hi there guys,i am also having the same issue.i put a win bet on nooriedick flyer for the met .the bookie does not want to refund me.they reply is i put a bet before the final field.so there is no refund.my question is y put a field up wen there is no refund.

Hi Rakesh if you took an "ante-post" bet and the horse is scratched you will lose your money

I dont know why the folks above are questioning the time of the bet...the fact is :

THE MAN HAS A TICKET...a bets a bet! If the race closed then no bet would have been laid...

Forget the Natal Bookmakers Society - they are by no means a watchdog body - they are an association of bookmakers FOR bookmakers - not punters.

What Ashley needs to do is contact the REAL watchdog - The KZN Bookmakers Control Committee...they have offices in La Lucia (near where Discovery used to be) in Nolsworth Crescent...go in there and visit one of the inspectors and have them investigate - in the unlikely event you dont win with them - try the KZN Gambling Board - a bets a bet mate!

Hold onto your tickets - the bets still on! Unless there some proof that Ashley colluded with a crooked manager (not clerk - managers close races) then I strongly believe Ashley is going to get his money!

I not long in racing. But i do know(i might also be wrong) that if the "servers" computers the bookies are using and the time is wrong they can get Fined a large amount by Gambling board. So if that bookmakers Time is incorrect he in trouble.. And i agree. if the race was closed why he take the bet.. Isnt there ment to be a sign stating that all bets laid once a horserace is off all bets are Void.?
There refund should then be entitled.?

Lots of factors to take in,in my time i have taken lots of bets after the off ..

Punters lose track of the time and place bets late,punters ask if they can get on after the jump and i use my discression whether or not to accept their bets but always say yes or no.

A bet that is placed after the off in error is usually noticed when settling or capturing the slip and would be settled as a non runner win or lose.

Ofcourse im not sure what systems the bookies use in SAF,but in the uk we issue a bet receipt then input the details onto the system,this is when our system checks the of times etc and by this time the punter can be long gone..

In Gauteng the bookmakers are forced by the Gambling board to
1. use a computer system
2. only approved the use of Turfsport package

its like SARS saying all accountants must use a computer package, and the only package they approve is Pastell.

to me it seems that the Gambling board have a finger in the pie with Turfsport.
furthermore, why dont the gambling board run a central package on a central server like the tote and have all bookmakers run off this package.

them the gambling board can close the race centrally like the tote, make sure all bookmakers comply with the laws (no credit) and pay the vat.

however, the gambling boards works for the bookmakers (raketeers) and are toothless institutions that should be closed down.

guess all bookmakers will be closed donw in a week.

Smashley...all you have to do is contact the Kwa-Zulu Natal Bookmakers Control Committee..they regulate the bookmakers industry in KZN.They will sort out you dispute with the bookmaker in question.
