The quality of Gauteng racing is in decline. This is mirrored by P's schedule.
Wonder what it will be without Tarry and Laird... oh dear

GBI?
PHUMELELA GOLD ENTERPRISES MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: GBI Racing sponsoring winning posts at SA tracks
DATE: Thursday 17 June
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited
GBI Racing, which brings top-quality UK and Irish racing to betting shop operators around the globe, is sponsoring the winning posts at all 10 South African racecourses for the next eight weeks.
Nick Mills, Commercial Director of Racing UK, said: “The sponsorship is a great platform to promote British racing to South African racing fans during a key period for British and Irish racing with many of the flagship racing festivals taking place over the next month.”
GBI Racing has exclusive international rights to all 60 UK racecourses and the 26 Irish tracks, and has more than 1,800 race fixtures annually available for simulcast.
UK and Irish racing is among the most respected and renowned thoroughbred racing in the world. The highest levels of integrity, field sizes, traditions and famous showcase events like Royal Ascot and the Epsom Derby combine to make UK and Irish racing a truly compelling proposition for wagering audiences.
“The winning posts at South African racetracks are prime advertising space and offer great marketing opportunities for the right sponsor, particularly at present with hundreds of millions of eyes focussed on this country as a result of World Cup 2010,” said Phumelela Gold Enterprises Sales Executive Clyde Basel. “We are delight to have negotiated this short-term deal with GBI Racing and wish them well during what is their peak racing season.”

Instead of this why not offer a reciprical trade off - to get SA noticed abroad - do we always have to promote something other than our own sport (Piggs Peak)!!!!
Why does this media release never come from a media representitive and 8/10 from a salesman ? How many people actually work there from a media point of view = 0?
I will always believe in our racing - just wish we would attract new sponsors that could benefit our industry and not the other way around!!!
Just my personal thoughts-

can't agree with you more pirates. i think that was gross(racing at Vaal sand).
i think Phumelela and Gold Circle still need to market SAF racing. we are a week away from the Gold Cup not to mention the greatest event, Vodacom July but only the die hard racing fans know about it. i'm sure it woudn't be a bad idea to start introducing racing to the black market. only a handful of darkies know about racing.

how ironic is this.... was bored the other day and someone suggested to me to try this feature on google maps called street view (click the orange man after address is located on map)... so after checking my house, place of work etc, i type in turffontein racecourse... then on the eklft of the screen there is a link to show you Phumelela Racing and Leisure's street view.... click click and the image that proceeds to load is that of a house somewhere in Turf street.... had a quite chuckle to myself after reading all the negative comments on the various forums..... found it very ironic that it looked as if P was being run out of someones garage
