PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: TAB to offer commingled Australian Jackpots daily
DATE: Sunday 8 March 2020
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming
Following the successful launch of commingling into a Tabcorp Jackpot pool on the Flemington race meeting in Melbourne on Saturday, TAB will offer commingled Jackpot bets on selected Australian meetings daily from tomorrow Monday 9 March.
TAB online customers will be able to play a Jackpot (called a Quaddie in Australia) on one or more selected Australian meetings for thoroughbreds daily.
The vast majority of such meetings are run in the afternoon in Australia and Jackpot pools generally close from 06.30 to 07:30 South African time.
TAB will also operate a commingled Jackpot pool on a selected Australian harness meeting daily. Most harness meetings in Australia are run at night and Jackpots on such meetings normally close from 11:00 onwards South African time, enabling TAB in-store customers to bet as well.
“Commingled Jackpots on Australian races are an exciting opportunity for our customers and will provide the chance to bet into sizeable, and sometimes mega, pools,” said a TAB spokesperson.
The net pool on the Flemington Jackpot on Saturday was some R25 million.
The commingled Jackpot pool late in the morning will replace the existing Jackpot Quickmix ONE, which comprised Australian races only.
Going forward there will be three Jackpot Quickmixes daily - the first usually ending with Race 1 at the afternoon South African race meeting; the second starting with the last race at the same South African meeting and the third normally comprising UK races in early evening.
BLITZ Racing, which comprises the last three races at the afternoon South African meeting and the best four international races in a suitable timeframe, will continue as normal.
Horseplayers can bet a Place Accumulator, a Pick 6 and what is effectively a Jackpot Quickmix on the seven BLITZ races.
TAB customers must note that there is no fractional betting on comingled Australian Jackpot pools. The unit is R1 with a minimum spend of R6 and it is not possible to display tickets going forward or will pays.

What's the point if there are no progressive dividends displayed. Just another step backwards.
The only reason I play Australia Jackpots is because we are up against other equal playing field South Africans. Now up against Australians, all value from this bet is gone for me.
Quoting the pool size the usual tactic by this bunch. Some will probably see this as a good move, I don't. At least keep the damn quickmix as well, it has been doing well so far.

.....Oh Gawd not more of the early local TT Ozz expert/s giving obscure tipping advice.....not to worry Thor they will still stick the unwitting punters away and there will still be the odd venue where value can be found.....a saver is that with so many scratchings in nearly every event I often get saved by adding them to get those late bombs the Ozzies label at the death...

PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: TAB makes it easier for SA punters to bet on Aussie Quaddie (Jackpot)
DATE: Saturday 21 March 2020
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming
South African punters have really taken a fancy to the commingled Aussie pools offered on selected Australian meetings daily – especially the Quaddie (Jackpot), where pools are often in excess of R20-million.
But due to the time difference between Australia and South Africa, betting on most Australian races was restricted to online customers.
Well, the good news is that this has changed.
Going forward, betting on Australian races will open the day before the race meeting, making it possible for TAB’s in-store customers to also place their bets on these highly profitable race meetings.
The vast majority of such thoroughbred race meetings are run in the afternoon in Australia and Jackpot pools generally close from 06.30 to 07:30 South African time.
TAB also operates commingled Jackpot pools on a selected Australian harness meetings daily.
Most harness meetings in Australia are run at night and Jackpots on such meetings normally close from 11:00 onwards South African time.
Racecards for the Australian meetings will also be available free of charge in-store at all TAB and Betting World shops as well as online at www.tabonline.co.za the day before a race meeting, giving punters ample opportunity to make their selections.

When will they release the amounts of the Pool that is contributed by South Africans? They clearly have access to it because it was quoted very quickly the last time there was a question about manipulation in the Aussie pool? I'm curious because I feel this is actually helping bookmakers who offer this bet fractionally rather than the tote where this can only be played in full units. I'm sure HWB is making more off this innovation than the implementers themselves.

So after two weeks I must say I eat my words. These Aussie jackpots have been the best thing to happen to us, especially with all other racing gone kaput.
One of the things my earlier assessment didn't consider is the inability of local jackpots to build up pools big enough to warrant playing at times like these when local totes are closed.
Great Job by those who arranged this.
