@cnc...NEVER discount Pakistan...remember in 1992 they would have been out but for a no-result against England after being bowled out for 74...

What the French are to world rugby, Pakistan are to world cricket...you just never know which version of a team you are going to get on the day...when they want to, they can and will beat anyone...Aus, SA, India, NZ included...

TN SA game on. True test for SA to see if they can handle the pressure of chasing score. What you predict?

Better that India are batting first. Their attack not perceived as that much of a threat.

Also, usually I wince when I see Parnell's name on a team sheet. Not so much today as he replaces Behardien who hasn't yet convinced me that he's the best all-rounder available.

SA to battle in chase if India get to over 275...in top order, de Kock and du Plessis not in form, in middle order, Duminy and Miller have had great innings so tough for them to repeat and don't expect too much from Parnell, Philander and rest as batsmen...

So more than 75% of runs need to come from Amla, AB and one of Duminy or Miller...that will be extremely difficult if India make more than 275...and Amla's record batting second is well short of when he bats first...

Don't see how India getting over 275 is a big deal?

Average score at the ground batting first is 285. Also, South Africa are the most successful team when playing in this format at the MCG.

As far as the SA batting order goes, any one of the top 6 is capable of getting the runs. Not just Amla and AB. De Kock has only had two competitive matches (not counting warm-ups) since returning from injury. Faf the only real concern for me. Miller, DUminy more than capable.

275 is important because 4 or 5 low scoring overs pushes the required to 6 per over...to score this over an extended period when chasing is extremely difficult...and with 2 out of form players in top order (De Kock and du Plessis), an opener who is not good in chases (Amla), two players (Duminy and Miller) who are inconsistent in chases having already made scores (so hard to expect repeat performance) and no batting beyond number 6, that is a tough requirement...

I sincerely hope I'm wrong...

Our pace attack loks very average both in this game and against Zim.

170/2 in 33 overs...275 + is likely final total...

Checked India's bowling line-up and seem better balanced among spinners but we need to attack their three pace bowlers...going to be a difficult chase...

No reason why india wont get 300+ considering they going on comfortably without any pressure from our bowlers.

Parnell 6 overs for 52...had Dhawan dropped by Amla...but has been poor for a while now and somehow in the team as an all-rounder...no confidence as bowler, not in any shape or form a batsmen so what could be the reasons for his inclusion ?? The mind boggles...
