Another SA boy starts for England

Keaton Jennings , son of Ray Jennings scored 100 for England on debut today . Keaton matriculated at KES in 2010 and after not being contracted left for England and last year was the highest run scorer in county cricket . Just another top sportsman that was not identified by the powers that be . What a shame

Averaging 35 in first class cricket and around 42 for List A with a strike rate of 76....

Not good numbers.

To be fair Naresh he was the leading run scorer in the season just gone county championship. England have a good problem now as they have some serious talent at the top end of the batting. Its a headache that most teams would love to have. Once again the Proteas have missed a trick imo

When he was picked for England for this series he was picked on his county season. He has already played 127 First Class innings with an average of 35 so prior to that what warranted his selection for South Africa ? Remember his county season I think will have influenced his average to go to 35. Not a great deal to go on by stats.

when he was at the lions in 2011 the openers ahead of him were steven cook alviro peterson and some kid that was said by ray jennings would never make it at the top level by the name of quenntin de kock ..lets assess him after 50 tests not one

lol.He was dropped on zero, but he made use of that chance so good luck to him.He now has a chance to cement his place in the England team as an opening partner to Cook

oubt that he will play 50 tests, as they go through openers like there is no tomorrow. A few bad knocks an they will be looking somewhere else. The other kid that they have but who has gone home as one of his fingers is broken, thats why Jennings got his chance, Hameed, will be back in the side when they play there next test series. Jennings will be the back up unless they put him in at three and drop Buttler.

im sure jennings will drop down to three with hameed opening with cook and root 4 ..hameed looks very good and england have a very good team especially at home be very hard to beat next july... problem they will encounter is anderson and broad are coming to an end and getting injury prone and im not clear who can step up if anyone can ..their allrounder is for me the best in the world at the moment great competitor

cant wait for the Ashes next winter. Going to be epic as the Aussies will be back to their normal self after the hiding they received from the Proteas. English fans are going to be crying when they go as the pound will be worth less than the Aussie dollar by then. Should be a great 5 match battle.

Out for a duck. Also take note he was dropped on zero in his first innings.

Hameed more potential albeit he bats a slow pace.
