Football Salaries.

My first topic.
In 1971,Kevin Keegan signed for Liverpool from Scunthorpe for £30,000 plus.He was on a basic salary of £30 a week at Scunthorpe. In those days with no agents, the wage contract was negotiated after the transfer.Bill Shankly offered Keegan £45 a week and £8 win bonus and £4 goal bonus.Keegan said that wasn't enough and they settled on £50 a week.
The average wage at the time was £20 a week.In 2011, the average wage in the Premier League was £38,000 a week and the average for the rest was £379 a week.
Has the heart gone out of the game? Many grounds lack atmosphere and the average man cannot afford the ticket prices of the big clubs.
I think Wembley for instance should have their cameras on the opposite side of the stadium, pointing to where the real fans are sitting. The corporate side that i saw on TV was very disheartening after half time during the Arsenal/ Chelsea final. It was a great game to watch and I couldn't believe how many empty seats there were on the 50th minute.

Just a little off the subject Eddie. In his book Brian Clough said he made two mistakes in his managerial career - one was that he discarded Keegan.

89 472 people attended the match Eddie...stadium has a capacity of 90 000. People were probably late coming back from their breaks

The so called fans seated where Eddie is referring too are people who get free bees. They don't support either of the teams, companies buy these tickets and give them to clients and all the luvvies get them as well. Crazy
