Steve Cooper will remain Forest manager, for now.

The club have also named a new sporting director to provide structures needed to progress as a Premier League club.

A statement from the owner of Nottingham Forest.

“There can be no time for distractions, rumours and speculation. There is only time for hard work, determination, a commitment from Steve (Cooper) and the players to getting the results we need and, of course, the continued magnificent support of the fans of Nottingham Forest.”

Evangelos Marinakis

Man City’s next three PL games games are against West Ham (who still need to watch their guard), Leeds and Everton. Surely against the latter two that must be “worth” a relative six points to Forest? Forest’s big gun will be Arsenal whom I think is beatable but let’s say not. That leaves Forest with a relative “net” three points over their relegation rivals. Should I pop the Cork now?

The above strategy worked but with a two points clear rather than three clear. I think Forest will handle the Gunners but it is Palace, the form side, on the last day, who are the dreaded potential banana skins. 🤞🏻

“Forest had lost four successive games when they travelled to local rivals Leicester for a Monday night fixture on 3 October…

“Leicester scored three goals in eight minutes on their way to a 4-0 triumph.

“Then something extraordinary happened.

“In the away section, in the corner of King Power Stadium, Forest's fans repeatedly chanted Cooper's name.

“Those supporters were making it clear to owner Evangelos Marinakis that if he was to sack Cooper, it would be against their wishes. Many would have preferred to go down than sacrifice their manager…”

Fulham 5, Forest 0

“Despite being well beaten, Forest fans showed their support for under-fire Cooper as they roared the Welshman's name even after the fourth strike hit the back of the net, sending a clear message to owner Evangelos Marinakis in the stands.” BBC.

I’d rather be relegated than see Cooper fired.

Forest need a change. The owner left 20 minutes before the end.
