Clairwood Wednesday - Looking forward to race5
14 years 9 months ago
Bit bored so been perusing at the Clairwood Card, can`t wait for race 5 ,the bookies can`t seperate the top 3 in the betting.
Never forever was punted like defeat was impossible on July day and will be out to recoup the losses.
Timeofreckoning looked a goodun on debut and Winter Night must be a decent sort..

I guess Hib means What A Winter, and that is the one I went for after much humming and hawing. It may be a small field, but that could be one heck of a novice plate and I would bring Kentucky Express (who finished precisely a short head behind Never Forever on July day in only his second run for MDK) and Elusive River (coupled with Timeofreckoning) into the play as well.
Castlethorpe will need a pretty decent first timer to get beaten in the opener, as he comes out of the terrific Draconian formline and Bass' horses usually improve after a run anyway. (For those who love red hot favourites, here's a taster - the MDK horse that finished second to Draconian on debut is running at Scottsville on Sunday).
The Apache will be very hard to beat after his controversial defeat last time and is by best of the day against what looks to be a distinctly ordinary bunch. Water Nymph is going the right way and can reverse form with Mike's Ideal. Hawk's Eye has a good chance, but I reckon Kynsna Forest could be a big improver over the longer distance and may be the e/w value play of the day. Footsteps has the form to go close even from her shyte draw, while a return to form from Western Front is on the cards although the stable has not been firing in KZN recently (another reason to perhaps favour What A Winter over the C Laird horses).

Hey Guys
What a Winter looks like a top sort in the making.
The Apache looks a good thing unless Toophan is something special.
Western Front should go start to finish.
I like Hawk's Eye but and worried about Marcus aboard Lucky Star.
Hope it helps
Play Well
