Felix Coetzee out for six weeks

Not seen this on any of the SA racing websites? it`s about time there was a decent racing website in SA with some backing so they can employ journalists that want to print worthwhile news..
Lifted from the racingpost.com
South Africa: Three-time South African champion Felix Coetzee will be out of action for betweenfive and six weeks after injuring his left hand in a freak accident at Greyville last Thursday evening.
Coetzee said: "When I was riding The Giant in the eighth race I went to turn my stick over and I felt the ligament move off the knuckle of my middle finger.
"When the hand is still I don't feel anything and I think I could be all right. But every time I close my fist the ligament goes off to one side and it's damn painful.
"I have been to two surgeons and unfortunately they both say that it requires surgery. This will mean that I will be out for five to six weeks."
Coetzee, 51, has long been one of South Africa's most successful jockeys, having won the Durban July three times, the J & B Met on four occasions and the Gold Cup seven times.
He has also enjoyed considerable success in Hong Kong and partnered the great sprinter Silent Witness to 17 consecutive wins.
He is stable jockey to the powerful Justin Snaith stable and was runner-up in the jockeys' table last season with 138 winners.

Yeah, get better soon Felix. The rest of us 51 year olds need you to prove to the world that at our age we are not ready for a rocking chair and slippers. Lol.(
