They are not 'appearing' to be high, imo opinion it is ridiculous.
From an ad in Computaform:
Aquanaut: R850:S
Furious: R575
Bold Cherry: Sold Out - probably to the sponsors
The Deck : R695 :S:S
Turffontein (not sure where that is): R695
No course view:
Grand National: R750:S:S:S
Hawaii: R750:S:S:S
Ascot R750 :S:S:S
BOOK NOW:
Not sure what the price covers, but how can a room/venue with 'no course view' be more expensive than most of those with a 'course view'? I'm sure at these prices there will be a couple of hundred 'racing people' (not sponsors, freebies, etc) on course that day

if they stick to these prices, we may just get 2,000 people on course... what a pleasure it was to go to Emerald cup last week, there was a good crowd, good vibe .... & it wasn't overpriced.
i'd like to see the " deck " filled up at these ridiculous prices...... this is not the MET guys or the JULY but I know you're aspiring to be like these 2 big events.... a bloody hard task at these high prices....... only time will tell.
what will the entrance fee be at the gate for Joe Soap ?

I had the same thought about the absurdity of those prices, Have our friends at Phumelela confused the Summer Cup with the Arc or the Breeders Cup? I'm sorry, but the words "delusion of grandeur" spring to mind.:

reminds me of the story of the guy with a stutter that goes to a five star bar and the prices are insane, but he keeps drinking and has a great night, as he is ready to leave he says to the barman
your prices are very high, but I have had a great night and no one says a word about my stutter
the barman says that is because we have a high class clientele and the prices are high and so are the quality of people
The barman says not sure if you noticed but I have a slight hunchback and no one has every said a word
the lad with the stutter replies "hunchback"? I thought it was your arse, everything else is so high in here..................
