Morning Scotia had a treble on saturday at durbanville just to test the bet . R300 place treble on Gatuso on to Splash Gold on to Chippendale . they all arrived my return was R504 a profit of R204. On checking with LM bookies had i had the same bet with them my rutrn would have been R540 less 6% plus my stake back so a profit of R517.60. In my opnion i agree with Pirates its ano brainer ill stick to the bookies for all to comes.

Hi
with regards to the 6% tax on TOTE BETS with bookies.
There are SOME bookies that dont deduct those in durbs.Theres even one that offers you a bonus % as well.
I only pay tax on fixed odds.

The ATC bet on a tote is a fun bet for small players. Of course, lots of little players add up which is the point of a tote.
We all know that the minute you take betting seriously anyone would discover the tote is a tax machine that penalizes the stupid in order to fund the facilities (smalls) and the stakes (huge). I exclude bets like the P6 etc, although I do know several professional horse gamblers and as far as I can see they play the P6 like every other mugg (ie skill and prayer in the same ratio as the general punter).
The fact is that without considering other options, the tote may generate much better turnovers in these pools because of the new bet. Here in CT the novelty wore off very quickly. However, P did a market survey apparently and after applying their minds think this will be better. What's different this time is that it's a national bet and perhaps it can reach that critical mass to get going.
I just can't get past the crunch factor of multiple take-outs thru the bet. Possible people won't realize that it's different to double and jackpot pools which are subject to a single take-out and not the multiplied take-out of this bet, not to mention that your own success will shrink the odds as the ticket heads to the finish line. More power to the stakes I say, let's cane those muggs!
Anyway, as one horse shortens another must drift and as in all zero sum games one man's loss is another man's gain. Go the tote!

Once the tote punter is educated regards this bet type he will migrate to bookies - hollywood(and i'm sure other bookies too) offer 3 places on CARDED runners and 4 Places if the field is 14 or more - CARDED is the secret here (and the ablity to mix markets)- as we know that for multiples even a tiny fractional return helps the end dividend so the R1-00 place return helps zip - I do hope i'm wrong

Here’s an example of an All To Come bet you could play at a race meeting at which you like three horses to win. You take a R10 All To Come as follows:
Race 1 – No 3 win
Race 4 – No 9 win
Race 8 – No 6 win
* No 3 wins Race 1 and pays R4 for a Win. Your All To Come accumulates R40 (10 x R4), which is bet for a Win on No 9 in Race 4.
* No 9 wins Race 4 and pays R10 for a win. Now you get a R400 Win (40 x R10) on No 6 in Race 8.
* No 6 also wins and pays R5 for Win – you collect R2,000 (400 x R5) for an outlay of only R10!
This is the example posted on racingweb by saftote. The reality of this example is that saftote will earn R90.00 commission out of original bet of R10.00 ( 20% of R10 bet on first leg = R2.00 plus 20% of R40 bet on second leg = R8.00 and 20% of R400 bet on third leg = R80.00 thus a total com of R90.00). If the bet went one more leg it would be 20 % on R2000 = R400 and so on from an initial amount of R10.00. If the same R10 was spent on any other exotics the operators takeout would be R2.50 irrespective of the amount won or lost.Operator must be careful they might look good for a while but they might be taking out too much too quickly.

Taking from racing web - THE ANALYST POSTED THIS
Today I experimented with the new All to come Bet. I placed the bet with TAB as well as with Hollywood and payout was as follows,
Hollywood - R 2 433,00
TAB - R 528,00
Layout was R 200,00 bucks on both bets....So much for TAB claiming to have better payouts with the new bet type.

Thank you Greg at last a "real" example saves us plenty time on theory, unless we can find another example if the totes favour?

that's HOLLYWOOD. they give you a bonus on all to come tote places depending on the number of races you got in your bet.
