It's been a long time I would think. As it happens, I read an article in the KZN University magazine anot very long ago where some boffin or other suggested that amongst the most obvious evidence of climate change in SA would be higher rainfall and hotter summers for much of SA with the notable exception of the Western Cape, where lower rainfall was indicated. Given the non-stop rain which Gauteng had for most of the early part of the year and the dry winter by Cape standards, he would seem to be spot on.
Unfortunately, this would seem to imply that the situation will only get worse - and yet they want to build an a/w track in PE??:S Beats the hell out of me.

I had a record somewhere, which showed that for most of the past 3 decades CT would lose meetings as late as Sept and Oct, and even early Nov believe it or not.
Without a doubt, it's getting drier. Can't be good.

Well, they did lose a meeting in November last year (or was it the year before?), so it's not quite out of the question that there will be more rain in the Cape this year. Still, we must remember that while climate change is very real, there are also natural cycles to these things. We were getting wet years and dry years long before anybody coined the phrases "climate change" or "global warming" and things may yet return to normal next year. However, too much of what I read in that article appears to be coming true for it to just be coincidence, and the article was written by a proper scientist who was careful to stress that he wasn't jumping to premature conclusions, and not by some sensationalist tabloid hack.
The times they are a changing, and so it seems is the weather.

correct magic. Its only the Governments around the world that believe its climate change and global warning in order to squeeze more money out of the gullible tax payer.
