corporate venues - NO COURSE VIEW R 750.00 per head, ( watch it LIVE on T.V. ) pull the other leg.
I personally wouldn't pay for these seats......... but if it's a corporate FREEBEE......... thanks I'll take it.

I really wonder how many " private " people are going to pay this kind of money from " their own pockets ? "

A lot of racing enthusiasts are going to be peed off,as we get closer to the event. As regulars to the game those figures are extravagant to most.

I am sure skipping the fence is no problem is sitting on someones seat and eating their meal might be the problem.

Yeah, I would agree.... prices somewhat too elevated. AND, bar open only "open" 30 minutes before and after for those prices.... come on.... July day is way more expensive but that goes from early afternoon till VERY late @ nite(if you still standing...). what happened to attracting young people to course???? At those prices i can guarantee you that 98% will say HELL NO! The young also like to be up in the comfortable seats, relaxing and eating and drinking and I would bet they would love the horse racing(more like guarantee from my experiences). But after paying so much to get in, for a relatively short period of stay, they wouldn't even think of laying a bet....

I'm always looking to take my mates to the course but wanna do it on a big day when there are a lot people and beautiful ladies around. After all that is one of the things that young men like. BUT, always, when it comes to these kind of events, the prices sky rocket and there is relatively no value for money. So, we end up migrating for a weekend in July down to Durban to really get some value for money, VODACOM JULY(2009). And, I'll tell you what, for friends who don't know jack about racing they enjoyed the betting and racing(some now punt regularly) and so do the women that go with us. All in all its great fun. That was first and only time we have been but its definately on the cards for 2011 and the MET is on come next year. We just love the hype and excitement. Good crowds.

I understand we cannot cant do it as big as the July or Met up in JHB(for whatever reason) then at least target the future market.
The younger generation who are brought into the game through family (trainers & owners) and bring along their friends should not make up the younger generation target. Need "fresh" people at the courses with different ways of thinking in order to diversify the sport and love of the sport.... And I am one of the 20 something year old punters who is no where near remotely connected in the game.... I fell in love with it on my own accord and influence.

My two cents..... (seems like five cents though)

Very important detail I missed:

"Including full local bar 30 minutes before and after Turffontein racing starts and ends

So presumably one can at least stock up on a few bottles of wine in the 30 min period before racing starts to accompany one's lunch? And I don't suppose JWB (or any other scotch) is classified as 'local'.

RIP-OFF

When times are tough the best way to get through is to overprice a product that nobody has bought for the last few years - Maybe FIFA has the rights to market these venues and we'll see a a big drop in prices a week or so before the race runs?
