Merit Rating - Impromptu

Hey Guys

I'm just studying the card for Kimberley on Monday and I noticed that Impromptu was dropped from a MR 82 to a MR 74 after winning in a canter by 6 lengths last time.
Even though he beat the blind school, I can't understand the MR drop because if the hand brakes were released he would have won by a couple hundred metres.

Any Thoughts?

any horse breaking his maiden in kim and staying there cannot have a net rating of more than 61...

Ok thanks for clearing that up.

On that ruling Impromptu may be chucked in, on his first run in a handicap.

may be chucked in ?that lawful leader arrived in kim as a 4yo won his maiden by 10 lengths could have been 30 and he had his rating cut to a net 61..he ended up a 13 or 14 time winner...
