Going to Joburg for a good day/night?

Good evening and this is an open question to P the RA and any site posters based in Joburg.

You know I love my racing and to me a party is part of the parcel, so when we were going to the Charity Mile considering we live in Pretoria, I asked Mrs S to try and find us somewhere decent to stay for the night at a reasonable price.

The Protea at the Wanderers was reasonable as I have a procard R680 for the night, but the taxi one way was R340 = R680 (the same as the room plus breakfast)
The guest houses were again not bad, but had a look in the morning and looked a bit dodgy? They were at the end of Turf road before you get to Gold Reef Casino and that was R1900

Formula one/City lodge also far away, I am aware they were planning a hotel/casino at the track plus I asked if a fun bus was planned for night racing from Pretoria when night racing was kicking off and would be happy to pay.

So any inputs would be appreciated

Scotia

I live in PTA and use a mini-bus service to Turf and back. Also, we have a few sharpies on the mini-bus. The mini-bus is not your average mini-bus (neat, new and air conditioned) and the driver waits till after the party before departing. Picks you up and drops you off in front of your home. The more use this service the cheaper it is. It takes 8 people and the return costs per person is R 500.00 - but then we were 4 people. It will be cheaper for more. Shout - I can get you in touch with this service and try it for yourself.

Sounds like a great idea. It deserves to be publicised.

Scotia - Greenfields guest house in Alberton (10 minutes to the track) is an absolute gem and not expensive!

Opposite Reading Golf Club!

Use the newly fitted cats eyes to keep you on the middle of the road. Should be fine getting home.
