IMO "Mr Racing" is a first class talent, he is passionate and knowledgable on all aspects of racing, did you watch him last week on Winning Ways. When he left Phumelela and went to Gold Circle, it was P loss and GC gain.
As far as the politics in racing circles are concerned I have no idea what the hell is going on and have now reached the point I don't care, however saying that with people like Basel, Moodley, Hawkins and Simpkins, I am sure they have the necessary skills and passions to get the game back on track.

I have to agree with unhappy that 'nice' should not be confused with 'effective'
It seems to me that many racing positions are filled by popular people rather than by qualified people!

Graeme Hawkins making a huge difference

Seems P's loss is GC gain.
Some very good logical changes made to the GC calender
Well done, can we have him back to sort out the local mess?

"Mr Racing" has always been on the ball.

Any truth in the rumour that the not so pleasant Jooste/Hawkins relationship caused Graeme to leave Phumelela and head to GC ?

I watched him on Tellytrack last nite..Graham is superb at his job and has excellent insight into horseracing.

He certainly does. My only regret about his move to this part of the world is that he never gets to call races any more. I think he's one of the very best commentators around, and wouldn't dream of answering his cell phone half way through a race....which evidently happened to another caller not long ago.

Virtually every 2nd position within the industry is for a person who lacks the qualification, experience or is conneceted to someone; not much of a difference from Government (ANC)?
Let's take a few-
Mr & Mrs Zuma
Mr & Mrs Motshega
Mr & Mrs Nqula
Mr & Mrs Yengeni
Mr & Mrs Molekethi
Mr Kader Asmal & partner......
Of course, sons and daughters, nephews and neices, etc still to unearth (will take 5 years or more!) eg., Pahad and Pahad, Ramos and Ramos, Ginwala and Ginwala, Gordhan and Gordhan, Mboweni & Mboweni.......????
Will the bookies also sponsor a prize for the person who finds the most number within the horseracing industry?

An example of the above again this morning.I reported, some weeks ago,the distribution problems of computaform ,and the laughable reaction of the appropriate division at "P"
Today I was informed by the local manager of the 7/11, that computaform have decided to stop supplying his shop entirely, because they are not selling enough copies (of books that are not delivered to them).....(you figure).Couple this with the inefficiency of Saftote,Tellytrack etc.
Now,on the basis of "shit rolls downhill"what does this tell you about the upper management.
However regardless of that competence, those positions also hold positions on the NHA board. If you look at the knowledge required to adequately regulate some of the rules of the NHA,is it any wonder that said body fails completely in it's mandate?
There are many names on that board with talent, but that talent is not necessarily related to the skills required to regulate!

Interesting that MR Hawkins was the organizer of this years RACING MASTERS golf tournament. This was supposed to take place at the begginning of nov. Ads were placed in computaform and on tellytrack .MR Hawkins himself pushed this event on winning ways with James Goodman the week before the event which was to be held at Royal Durban golf club. A couple of us made flight and acc bookings and arrived in durban on the sunday before the event to have a practice round which we did. On finishing the round we enquired at the pro shop what our tee off times on monday morning were only to be told the whole event had been cancelled a few days before. My partner an ex jock enquired from Mrs Simkins why nobody had informed us to which he was told SMS were sent .Hogwash we got zip only a three grand expense for nothing. On top of this we have not heard or seen any news in any publication or TV program as to why it never took place. I leave you all to make up your own minds about people being competent.

Bloodshot just for future. Next years golf day has already been canceled.
I prefer Debbie Hawkins to Graeme Hawkins but i prefer Uncle Georges Farrier over all names mentioned above.

Bloodshot, send a copy of your expenses for the golf trip to Gold Circle, att. G. H and demand reimbursement. If there level of communication is via a sms then that is down right laughable.
