Yes, good pics Anthony! Appreciated>

Brings back memories-

When I was at Orient High (late '50's), use to train for our Annual athletic event by running around the Greyville race track (on the outside)!

Topper Brown was our soccer coach and I was team captain and centre forward.... those were the days! Baboo Ebrahim was in our school cricket team...me the wickie and I read every ball of his (including the googlie)!

Try your paces around the track today....after 5pm!!!!

Umlilo -

Baboo Ebrahim -one of the legends. Did he ever bowl a "doosra".

@eastexpo:
Yes, he was a left arm bowler and perfected (somewhat) the 'doosra'.

I myself (coming from a cricketmad family in Colenso, father, uncles, cousins, brother, etc in the team) was a spin bowler who worked on the 'doosra' by studying Christopher Sly (I bowled with the right hand and batted left). In the Clairwood League (Durban), I held the record for taking 7 wickets for 5 runs (I think)! If it wasn't for Baboo, I would have been in the top league also. At Stanger High, I put up an opening stand with a Kathrada partner of circa 100 runs with about 30 balls against a teacher's team.

My dad was amongst the first in the country to have experimented with it....and it was comical to watch how batsmen would struggle with it (he would flight the ball in the air); swash the bat to the left.... and the ball goes right! I started playing local league cricket at age 12.... as a wicketkeeper.

The atmosphere and camaraderie of those days is.... sadly.... (like horseracing) gone!
