Confused by Uncle Georges Jockey arrangements

Would have had them the other way around.

But my money on Uncle George would be great.

Stormy Coast unlikely to run. Don't you know that George's brother Tommy has adopted Muzi ? Lol.

I see in the Racing Express today Mike De Kock mentions abount how Kavanagh "got badly cut into and his work was interrupted." Mike says he may be a liitle underdone. I would certainally advise a bit of caution although Mike De Kock is so good I sure he will have him as good as can be.

I think Kavenagh just neeeded that week's work that he missed - he'll be back

The work missed may have made the difference, but I still have the suspicion that he doesn't quite get a stiff mile, at least at this stage of his career. I hope I'm wrong, because otherwise he could end up as one of those 1400m specialists who have precious few (if any) big race opportunities open to them in SA,.

He didnt stay the Turf but hell be ok at the Kenilworth and Clairwood 1600.

@magic...what is your opinion of MDK trying Perana over this distance so early in the season...some of the questions being asked before the race we usually only ask in July...personally i think the achievements of the three years olds in 2010 could have affected his judgement...

It was worth a try, FC. After all, Perana won the Victory Moon over 1800m after a lay-off and doing everything wrong, beating the horse who went so close to winning the Summer Cup. There was no reason to think he couldn't do it again. With hindsight maybe he overdid things in the early stages of the Summer Cup and paid the price, but De Kock has repeatedly pushed the boundaries and gotten away with it. After all, people said a 3yo couldn't win the Gold Cup in June and Ancestral Fore bolted in.(:D

magic, you could be right regarding Kavanagh - time will tell I suppose. What happened to Gold Onyx (and for that matter the other Tarry runners on the day - very disappointing, to say the least)?

While discussing the current crop of 3yr olds - someone (and I can't remember who it was) mentioned on TT this weekend that the 'current crop of 3 yr olds were much better than the crops of the last few years' - how soon does some people forget 'yesterdays's heroes' like PJ, Irish Flame and Bold Silvano(td)

On the subject of PJ - I still maintain that he needs plated races over 1400 to 1800 (Queen's Plate?) - he did not disgrace himself in the Charity Mile and Summer Cup giving weight away.

Regarding Perana, I think that beating a talented field over 2000 in November is quite a different proposition than beating a couple of slightly above average older horses over 3200 in July (Ancestral Fore) - so he is clearly a very classy 3 yr old - Cape Derby beckons (or perhaps have a tilt at the Met?)
