Fallon lands decent book of rides at Meydan
Preview: UAE, Thursday
Meydan (Tapeta)
With William Buick still in Mauritius, Kieren Fallon again steps in to ride for trainer Dhruba Selvaratnam at Meydan on Thursday evening, as well as at Jebel Ali on Friday afternoon and Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Selvaratnam and Fallon look to have several leading chances and combine with Swinging Sixties in the featured 1m1½f handicap, the final heat on the six-race card.
It will be Swinging Sixties's first start for the trainer and he is an exciting recruit to the yard.
"William is in Mauritius, but Kieren is a more than capable deputy," Selvaratnam said.
"Swinging Sixties is a horse we really like and are looking forward to running at the carnival. He will come on for this run but is fit enough for a run."
It looks a wide-open contest with Inestimable (Musabah Al Muhairi/Wayne Smith), Weald (Doug Watson/Pat Dobbs), Dr Faustus (Watson/Tadhg O'Shea) and Glen Nevis (Ali Rashid Al Raihe/Royston Ffrench) among a host of dangers.
Canwinn and Dahteer could also go close for Selvaratnam and Fallon.
Canwinn contests the 1m handicap, in which once-raced maiden winner Saudi Summer (Satish Seemar/Richard Mullen) is a live threat.
Mullen said: "It was a pleasing debut win and the form is working out. He has improved from that experience and should run well."
Stable companion Skycruiser, the mount of Harry Bentley, is another to consider.
Dahteer takes his chance in the 7f handicap and will face Celtic King (Al Muhairi/Smith), who comes here on the back of a win at Jebel Ali

Fallon steers Jaasoos to National Day Cup double
Racing post..............
Report: UAE, Sunday
Abu Dhabi: National Day Cup (Listed) 1m, turf
Jaasoos (Dhruba Selvaratnam/ Kieren Fallon) joined Emirates Gold in becoming only the second horse to win the National Day Cup twice when he triumphed at Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
The winner, partnered by William Buick 12 months ago, was wide turning for home, but that proved a blessing as the runner-up Black Eagle and third Clasp scrambled for room against the rail.
By the time they were clear, Jaasoos was three lengths in front and never looked like being caught.
He could bid for an historic third success next year and Fallon said: "It is a great training performance by Dhruba as it was the horse's seasonal debut. I was not able to get a position during the race and we were forced very wide.
"I probably hit the front a bit too soon, but had to go for home while I had the chance."
Fallon, who won the Listed HH The President Cup on the Joanna Morgan-trained One Won One in 2001, added: "It's a great result for everyone."
The National Day Cup is the first Listed race of the season.
