Going to centre my bets around King Karl.
Straight PA - all Karl's mounts
PA Perm - excluding all Karl's mounts
Win bets - a punt on each of his mounts.
If he does not win, he sure as hell won't make the first 3 placings

Really? Interesting that so far this season (up to and including 21st December) Karl has had exactly the same number of wins as seconds - 42. He's also finished third slightly more often than fourth (31 - 29 respectively). The stats show he is far more likely to finish first or second than third or fourth, on the evidence of the past several months anyway.

As Hotline says, there is a hectic head wind today,so they are almost certain to congregate up the outside rail up the straight again.Maybe even do so around the bend as we have seen at times in the past.

For what it's worth, I remember Jeff Lloyd telling me that when the southeaster really pumps you don't ideally want to be drawn 1 in races around the turn. You're better off racing at least one off the fence, with a horse on your inside acting as a windbreak. This is when Cape racing can get very tactical, I guess, so I'd tread warily.
That said, I still prefer the Kenilworth card of the two today. I make Nor'wester the best bet, she looks like she's been wanting this longer distance. Splash Gold, My Kazzie and Castlemartin are others that I like, but with reservations. Splash Gold meets some very useful opposition and could get a real race especially from Emmajo, while My Kazzie must have some stamina doubts, although there may be no pace on and that could help her cause.
Greyville looks a nightmare. With Tough At The Top scratched I'm hard pressed to find a best bet, but Paraguayito could be the one. Volacious will prefer the 1400m to the mile of his last two starts and can pay for a few beers by winning the first.:)o
