Hi Frank, last year I used the tote win less one as the points basis. But then some experienced punters brought to my attention that they were generally getting better odds at their bookies. Hollywood bets was just one that kept on being mentioned as to offering decent odds. I looked at their site today and I liked the fact that it was easy for me to get the results and their SP's, and guess what? the experienced punters were right. In race 1 today our top two punters would have made a profit of only R7.10 to the rand if they played on the tote, 10/1 at a usual bookie, but they got an excellent 12/1 at Hollywood. OKay I guess at the fixed odds guys you have to still -6% betting tax, evenso it is still a 58% improvement on the tote price. So for this fun game points are earned now on the Hollywood bets SP, pick a 10/1 winner, you get 10 points, if your horse looses you get -1. So the challenge as a punter is to try and get a positive balance. Hope that answers your question.
