Pocket Power - is he retired or not ? transparency please !

From Mike Bass website.....

A fifth Queens Plate title was not to be for Pocket Power who fought on bravely to make the frame in 4th position, but it was Mother Russia who reminded us just how brilliant she is by making light work of one of the strongest Queens Plate fields ever assembled.

“He ran a great race” said Fayd’Herbe of his mounts performance. “He ran his heart out right to the line, and I could not have asked for any more than he gave me.”

As his trainers, we are very proud of him that he managed to hold onto that 4th position so bravely, in his way, reminding us all of what a champion he really is. It was also his own way of letting us know that it is all too much for him now, his time at the top has now sadly passed, and that it is now time to pass on his title of Champion of the turf to the next worthy beholder.

He has been a great soldier to us, and for most part, made us who we are today, so we will always be enormously indebted and grateful to him. He has made this race his own in the years gone by, and I suspect his incredible record of four wins (and now a place) will stand, I would suspect, for many lifetimes.

It has been an amazing and beautiful ride and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their support and best wishes leading up to this event. We will be making an announcement to the press in the coming weeks as to the details of his retirement.

While I salute the champ and reckon he deserves a send off just like Ntini got yesterday I also had a bet on him this morming for the Met.:D. I don't mind doing my money as rules are rules, but no horse is bigger than the game and I believe either way the public deserve to know today whether he will run in the Met.

Harris, I believe that you'll get a run for your money from the Pocket in the Met but that is only based on the rumour mill and I agree that the sooner the annoucement is made the better for the punters.

I guess the safest thing to do is to NOT have a bet right now until you know. I don't think his price will shorten dramatically anyway so no difference on prices imo.

Just chillax and wait for the announcement is all I can suggest right now.

And I can proudly say I will endeavor to NEVER loose that "moederland" accent for as long as I live........and I'm going to try and teach my "pie in the sky" kiddies to speak the lingo as well
