Mike Bass fancies the Pocket

I was at a charity fundraiser and Mike was on the panel. He said it was a match race betwen Pocket and Mother Russia. I see he has gone for the gloves on his website,
Free Tips
Tip of the Week (J&B Met)
Racecourse : Kenilworth
Date : 29/01/2011
Tip : Race 7: (1) Pocket Power
What does he know ? If Pocket won it would be the most sensational Met ever, similar to when Pete Sampras was written off as over the hill but came back to win one final US Open vs Agassi and then retired. Two very different sports. I must say I am hoping for the same ending.

Write-off the champ for the Met at your own peril.....

From that draw at kenilworth, can he run into the first 4?? Definitely. Can he win it? I certainly hope so, but it will be tough, tough, tough!
All the best to the horse and the connections!!!!

Can`t see any negatives for Mother Russia,if anything she is better than last year..
Can we say that about Pocket Power?

My only concern about Mother Russia is a hard run mile and a quarter on the day. If they go fast she will battle to stay on at the death imo. I believe she is a top class miler but 2000m stretches her slightly. Not saying she won't win as we know all about the "Cape Crawl", but imo if they go quick she will just be run out of it.
My provisional selection is Run for It as I think he has all the stamina in the world and will be crying out for this 2000m trip which he gets for the first time?
My heart is with Pocket to come through the race healthy and unscathed. If that means he also runs in the first 4, then so be it

She stayed well enough to run second yes, like she did in the summer cup (I know she was not fully wound up). All I'm saying is she might be a little vulnerable in the last 75m or so............
