Scotia on the Met weekend
14 years 4 months agoGood morning Clan and the big weekend is here and I am sure we are all really looking forward to the Met.
Have a go at our fantastic competition sponsored by Dr Louis Luyt, Nicholas Rey foundation and ABC. Met Comp
So for the Scott's its Table mountain on the Friday, wine route on Sunday and with a bit luck a few winners on the Saturday.
Mrs. S will be taking a few snaps and will post on the site.
Plenty bookie specials to get the punters in the mood and my heart will be ruling my brain with the Pocket/Kauto double.
Some other good races on the cards plus for you unfortunate punters sitting on the coach you also have coverage on Supersport 2, so no crossing to Ngong.
Interesting to see Gibraltar Blue going down last week? lets hope for a big improvement on Sat. in addition Solo Traveller is another fancy.
Bold Silvano and Irish Flame
We have Dubai this evening and MDK has 9 runners including Irish Flame.
The Dubai World Cup on the 26th of March should be a great race with SA interests, can Bold Silvano lift the cup?
Cheltenham festival is taking shape and we have a dedicated thread running but at this stage we have had a few changes after the Victor Chandler day at Ascot.
Master Minded is on the drift and you can now have 5/2 as Big Zeb goes 3/1, will stick with MM, Binocular is now 7/2 for the Champion Hurdle and Cue Card has gone 5/2 for the Supreme Novice and looks good, Big Bucks still the festival banker at 8/10 tops, Grandouet has gone to the top of the boards for the Triumph Hurdle and Imperial Command stays 4/1 for the Gold Cup 7/1 the Long Run and stable mates Denman and Kauto no better than 9/1.
Frankel is still around 13/10 for the 2000gns and should start money-on and the bookies don't think he will stay and have the star at 6/1 for the Derby. On the subject of the Derby you must watch the Interbet sponsored Winning Ways this week, superb!
As normal some excellent contribution here are a few
1. Hassen Adams vs Gold Circle
2. Nicholas Rey Foundation
3. The MET, larger than life.
United will be hard to peg back
Football: has been a few highlights this week and Man Utd 7/10 clear favs to hold on from the Gunners 3/1, Chelsea back to form at 17/2 and Man City 16/1.
Its unusual in Scotland to break the "Old Firm" stranglehold with Celtic at evens and Rangers 14/10 but after they lost to my team Hearts 8/1. Wish I had taken the 3/1 without the top 2 as they are now 1/10.
On the funnier side of life here is my weekly funny...............long before Mr Bean, there was a classic Rowan Atkinson.
Watch the clip
So looking forward to our long weekend, meeting the Cape Town crowd and see you at the races.
Good punting!

Well they say all good things must come to an end and leaving this part of the planet is difficult
Have plenty pics and the wine farm, Camps Bay etc was magic, more to follow.
