East,

Don't go too big on Polar Bound. That horse Bastille Day is going to LOVE the blinkers and the distance!

bastille day merit rating has gone from a 84 to an 96 via his 2 brilliant runs over 1800 and 2000 metres and now he drops back in a hcap to a 1400 ...i believe this distance could be to short for him hence the blinkers are on to try sharpen him up and will wait for him to go further and also to be put back in a plate race as his rating might be to high...

Yep, Bastille Day runs in a very competitive little handicap, rated 96. The only time he ran in a handicap he was rated 83, and got beat. The blinkers may help, but given all of that and the possibility of a too-short distance and I personally wouldn't touch him today. (Here comes the egg/face thing....(:D) I am also concerned at how the big Cape 3yo races for the colts kept producing blanket finishes and I have to agree that Bastille Day could now be too highly rated.

My best for the day on the ticky card is Dead Cert in the eighth race. He looks to be coming back to the very good form he showed as a 2yo and 1400m is probably his right distance. (By the way, his name used to be The Undertaker before he went to the sales and had it changed by his new owners. Some would say that that was the most appropriate name for a racehorse ever:D)

Shows you how we all read that race differently, I think it is an open race, Boundless Blue and Prince of Troy being my first 2 selections.... FIELD in the p6;)

Prince Of Troy has fantastic 1400m form and the 1.5 kgs allowance swayed me to go for him ahead of Polar Bound again. Posh Josh is another I respect, 1400m could be his best trip too.
