Superstar Black Caviar blitzes Flemington rivals
Racing post
Report: Australia, Saturday
Flemington: Newmarket Hcap (Group 1) 6f, turf, 3yo+
AUSTRALIAN superstar Black Caviar (Peter Moody/Luke Nolen) slammed a Group 1 field to land her tenth straight victory with an electrifying burst of speed in the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on Saturday.
The darling of the Aussie racing scene sauntered home for the most comfortable of triumphs in the Aus$1 million (£621,000) contest, highlight of the Super Saturday card at the Melbourne track.
"She's broken 33 seconds for the last 600 (metres) - you wouldn't want to be chasing her on foot, would you?" said trainer Peter Moody. "She's just awesome. She's done a hell of a job."
The four-year-old, the reigning world champion sprinter, equalled the weight-carrying record by shouldering top-weight of 58kg to land the Newmarket, the same as Shaftesbury Avenue in 1991.
Despite her burden, Black Caviar was sent off $1.18 (about 1-6) favourite and never looked like disappointing a bumper crowd at the home of the Melbourne Cup as she became the first horse to win her first ten starts at Australia's city tracks.
After breaking alertly under Luke Nolen, the daughter of Bel Esprit raced in second place a coupleof lengths off the three-year-old Crystal Lily, last year's Golden Slipper winner, who led up the centre of the track.
Black Caviar was eased past her just after halfway and was already in command two furlongs out, at which point all her opponents were in trouble.
She went on to put four lengths into the field before the furlong pole before being allowed to coast home and scoring by 3½ lengths over 30-1 chance Crystal Lily.
Beaded took third behind a truly brilliant winner who stopped the clock at a blistering 1m07.36s for the straight 1,200 metres, with the last 200 metres going in 32.67s.
"She's probably a worthy people's champion now," said Nolen. "She had a lot of history to break today but she can't read and I can't tell her."

WOW!
Would still like to see her at Ascot/Dubai/Singapore? mind u cant think of any great sprinters at the moment.
Apart from JJ/Rocket Man, etc, cant think of a UK spriner..........Canford Cliffs?
In the States??
OK will have to be a match race with What A Winter..............lol

Interestingly, the first four in that latest race were all fillies or mares, with last year's Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily finishing second. They breed some fast sheilas down there.

Guys this mare is seriously a FREAK.
the times that is running are unbelivable.
She carried 58kgs last Saturday and ran it in 67secs with the last 600m in 32 secs.
You guys will be able to watch her LIVE on Friday week as she runs in a night meeting at Mooney Valley.
There is pressure for her to go overseas and prove how good she is but the stakes here are top class,
The race she ran in on Saturday was $1 MILLION.
