What's better, poker or horse racing?

I was wondering if any of the other clansman play online poker and whether they win/loose more on the horses or poker. I find poker more frustrating than horses, so I'd say I prefer the gg's...

BATMAN, do you think the cash games or tournaments are better? What cut do the casinos take in tournaments?

Played poker for a living a few years back..

Online poker is the most depressing thing a man can do,you start of thinking this is easy dont have to go out to work etc,but wait until you are sitting online staring at a screen 12 hours a day 7 days a week.

And dont forget only 5% of online players are winners feeding of the other 95%

We are all racing people here but poker does have some benefits:

Play when you like ....24/7
Dealers don't down tools everytime it rains
No abandonements
No inconsistent objections
No mystery dividends
No unfit cards needing a run
Bad beats are less frequent than bad runs

Damn...it doesn't sound too bad...... lol.

Anything were the chances of any particular result can be calculated with absolute mathematical certainty is a bad play, at least in theory, because the payouts are always under those odds. The wonderful thing about uncertain events (like horse racing, soccer etc.) is that you the player can decide for yourself if the odds offered are greater or lesser than the chances of a certain result. What to some people is an even money shot is only a 2/1 chance to someone else, but with card games that subjectivity or opinion disappears out the window.

It's no secret that I'm not a gambler - but if I was you wouldn't catch me dead playing any variety of casino game whatsoever.

Great to sit in a casino on the black jack tables and you are up. Picture, give me a picture.

Magic, your assessment is correct for casino 'games' but not for poker.
There are 'absolute' odds of various results, but you are playing against other players, with various level of skill, who may or may not even know the odds.
The difference with poker is that the "house' is only a facilitator.
I have often played hands where the return far exceeds the true odds.

(BTW I only play poker as a timekiller as I do not have the patience to be be really good at it......I have learnt the odds but don't always wait for them)
