Stipes report; Inquiry into the apprentice weighing in underweight.Great. However Neisius weighs in 1kg more than he weighed out gets a measly R1000 fine. Irrespective of where either horse finished surely an enquiry into both cases is demanded and stiff punishments meted out. You never see this type of thing happening in Hong Kong or Singapore unless there is rain and every rider comes back weighing more than when he went out. Sorry but our stipes are useless and are killing the game

Classic, I think you have to read between the lines here.
From the stipes report we have:
d) Jockey K Neisius, the rider of CHRISTINA, was charged with a contravention of Rule 66.4, in that he weighed in at 56,6kg, which is more than 1kg above the weight at which he weighed out (55,5kg). Jockey K Neisius signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1,000.00.
e) The Clerk of Scales lodged an Objection against DANISH DIVA (App G Wright), the winner, in terms of Rule 68.2.11, in that Apprentice G Wright weighed in more than 0,5kg (59,3kg) below the weight at which he was declared out (60kg). The Objection Board after hearing the evidence upheld the Objection and disqualified DANISH DIVA (App G Wright) in terms of Rule 69.7. An Inquiry will be held regarding the circumstances surrounding Apprentice G Wright weighing in more than 0.5kg under the weight at which he weighed out.
Now (unless you a believer in coincidence) what are the odds some kit got swapped with the coupling and in all likelyhood the jocks had no clue?
PS Same day: Jockey A Fortune, the rider of ROYAL BLOODLINE, weighed in at 61,1kg, which is more than 1kg above the weight at which he weighed out (60kg). This report will be investigated.

Jack you could well be right. But surely we need to ensure that if this was the reason then the jockey's,should, in future after weighing out accompany the trainer to the saddling enclosure and ensure tha the correct equipment is fitted. It will close the loophole.

These days us punters can consider our selves lucky that there are electronic scales. In days gone by the old type of scales were easy to cheat if yoy were a heavyweight jockey, many a jock lent there elbow on those nuts that used to bolt the face of the scale down and easily push 1or 2kg

hi Pirates,ja many a horse was ridden overweight it was a thing that most heavyweights did,in Bloem it was a bit worse you could actually adjust the scale yourself if you arrived earlier in the morning of course i was never involved i was a good little boy.

It makes sense. The two horses were stable companions and a mix-up could have occurred. What's done is done, but if that turns out to be the case let's hope a lesson has been learned and tighter controls are put in place to try and prevent a repeat.
