Van Zyl set for King's Pact hat-trick
by Leon Setaro

Slinky The Cat

Gavin Van Zyl has trained the winners of the King's Pact Stakes (non black type) for the past 2 years in succession and looks to have an excellent chance of doing it again today. No reason given by operators why the race has been moved to Scottsville this year (from Clairwood) but what we do know is that it's not going to bother Slinky the Cat (pictured), the Black Minnalousche filly that idled in by 3 on debut over the Scottsville 1200m. This time there won't be 7/1 on offer and punters wagering on Van Zyl nailing the King's Pact hat-trick will have to settle for around 16/10 if going in early.

Last month I spent time working at Gavin's yard and Slinky (may skut) was one of the fillies that I took a special interest in. When she does pace-work there's no second-glances needed to confirm her talent; her cruising speed is potency-in-motion and what about the unusual dome protrusion on her forehead, assumedly where she keeps her NOz thrusters! Her sire deserves to be a champion stallion just on name alone; you won't find many that ballroom-dance off the tongue better than Black Minnalousche!

It's 200 less and at the 200 Noble Times was travelling better IMO...now carrying 2kg less as well don't right the dream off...Also note the 3 coupled horses that he needs to compete agains from the Miller stable...no certainty IMO...stats favor's the coupling
