Scotia feeling a bit "flat"
14 years 2 months agoDoncaster hosts the Lincoln
Good morning to the Clan and hope you are looking forward to another great weekend and the good news is that the "flat" season is back.
It starts with the Licoln on Sat where Taqleed is a "hot" fav in Lincoln terms at 4/1 and a decent ew at 1/4 the odds should give you a "free" bet.
Plus before we get fully into the flat we have the Grand National to put to bed on the 9th at Aintree, where as normal near impossible to find the winner, but The Midnight Club 9/1, What a Friend 12/1, Oscar Time and Backstage 14/1, Big Fella Thanks, Silver by Nature 16/1, Ballybriggs, Don't Push It 20/1 and Tidal Bay at 40/1 just to mention a "few"
I will be having an ew on Tidal Bay at 40/1.
Newmarket will have the first "classic" race in the form of the 2000 gns on the 30th of April and the "punters" should get off to a flyer with Frankel at evens. The 1000 gns for the fillies not so cut and dry on the 1st of May where Havant now tops the boards at 6/1 and might be worth a double with the same horse to win the Oaks at 13/2 (should get around 50/1 with your friendly bookie) we also have White Moonstone 7/1, Misty for Me 8/1 and Memory 10/1 in a very open race.
If you are in the mood for doubles would still take Frankel to win the Derby on the 4th June at 5/1, the odds makers seem sure the horse won't stay, but neither did Sir Ivor! remember if you are taking same horse doubles check if there is a deduction in odds.
Frankel could run in the Dante
2nd of Oct we have the ARC and Workforce remains a very weak fav at 8/1 and the same applies to the Melbourne Cup on the 1st of Nov where Maluckyday is 12/1
On the subject of luck or lucky a race we are all looking forward to is the KrisFlyer Sprint on the 22nd of May where JJ and Rocket Man will renew rivalry, pity we could not add a touch of Black Caviar. The plan is for JJ to go to Newmarket and the Rocket to go to Ascot, but might just be tempted to take a trip to Australia? Whatever happens we should be treated to some great clashes.
JJ beating Rocket Man
On the local scene we are also having some great days racing with plans for Igugu on everyone's lips. The plan would appear to be, pick up the Oaks cheque then onwards to the July before Dubai and maybe we wont see the match race against Ebony Flyer materialise? Again exciting times both locally and Internationally on the cards. In addition the 12th at the big T should be a good night with live music, will try and get more detail but did see an banner on tellytrack, Garth Brooks etc. (SORRY TAYLOR) well at least most of the email circulation will be at the track.
Don't forget the sales.
As far as the cricket must say found the games very exciting and nail biting and have added a new sport to my list of things to do on a Sat, but would still be hard pushed to watch live (at the stadium) India 13/20 Sri Lanka 14/10.
Football as far as the EPL not much change Utd 6/10, 33/10 Arsenal, 11/2 Chelsea and cant see much change this weekend but as far as relegation a huge battle continues with Wigan 4/10 ready to go down but who will join them, West Brom, West Ham, Wolves, Blackpool, Birmingham, or Blackburn? many options here and could lead to some good punts.
Rugby where the Crusaders continue to impress 13/10 and the Stormers next best and doing well at 6/1, the Bulls have blown to 10/1 ( with Neil Diamond in town) I can see me being the only person in the Afrikaans pub.
Plenty good topics on the site:
anbettingclan.com/forum/phorum-5.1.15/read.php?3,174535">The RULEBOOK..
Is Mathew Stevens any good.............
Igugu what price.
We have had Sea Cottage/Gatecrasher/Politician............Gatecrasher post......... who is next?
On that subject I am still frustrated with the duplication of both shows Inside Racing and Winning Ways. I am sure we would appreciate the times they will be broadcast and the content. Have sent mail to Robin Bruss and James Goodman to try and get the parties to communicate and hope for a bit more clarity and less duplication as I enjoy both shows. As far as I can establish, its Elevation this week from the Lithgow's and Winning Ways will be on at 8.00.
Thanks for all the best wishes on the site and emails to Mrs S and myself on our 37th anniversary, the best email was:
After both suffering depression for a while, me and the wife were going to commit suicide yesterday.
But strangely enough, once she killed herself I started to feel a lot better, so I thought F**k it, I'll soldier on..!
After last weeks racing Igugu, JJ, Rocket Man and "Kavanagh" getting beat cant stop singing that very catchy song "we could have had it all"
Watch Clip
Have a great weekend and may your God be with you and hope you do get it all...................
good punting!

Unbeaten Black Caviar rated world's best
OFFICIAL recognition for the exploits of unbeaten Australian superstar Black Caviar has arrived with the sprinter landing top spot in the first edition of the World Thoroughbred Rankings for 2011 on Thursday.
Covering the period from October1 to March 27 - roughly the last six months - this list is compiled by the panel of handicappers and racing secretaries affiliated to the IFHA (International Federation of Horseracing Authorities).
In effect, it provides an interim list of the world's top 50 racehorses according to official handicappers before their end-of-year Global Rankings, which were headed in 2010 by Harbinger.
Black Caviar's stunning success in the Group 1 Lexus Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on March 12 was rated at 130, a pound clear of the now-retired Blame, who became the first horse to beat Zenyatta in last year's Breeders' Cup Classic.
Greg Carpenter, Australia's representative on the
WTR committee, described it as "a landmark day for Australian racing".
He added: "Winners at the Dubai World Cup meeting, US Breeders' Cup meeting, Hong Kong International meeting and the Arc have all been rated inferior to Black Caviar."
"That helps put into context the enormity of her achievement in winning the Newmarket Handicap and indeed her amazing sprinting performances over the past six months."
Black Caviar followed up her Flemington success at Moonee Valley last week after again defeating last year's Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily.
Carpenter added: "It's particularly pleasing thatshe has broken ground for sprinters in the World Thoroughbred Rankings and showcased the growing strength of Australian racing on the world stage."
Because the current Top 50 is based on performancesfrom the last six months, they exclude Harbinger's brilliant King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes triumph. That victory meant he topped the 2010 rankings with a figure of 135 to become world champion.
Dubai World Cup winner Victoire Pisa earned a rating of 122, while Presvis and Rewilding, winners of the Dubai Duty Free and Dubai Sheema Classic, are on 121.
The next edition of the World Thoroughbred Rankings will be released on May 26 covering the previous six months.
