HOW MUCH INTEREST IN WEANLINGS?????????????
14 years 4 months ago
I was fortunate enough to go to 'THE MAGIC MILLIONS' sales in Australia, and was surprised at the interest shown in the weanlings. They do have lots of horses on their sales, but the way to go is to buy weanlings. Its quite a gamble as the horses are still growing, but thats the "VALUE",if your trainer has the eye.I was wondering how many of our trainers go to our stud farms and pick horses before they get "JUICED UP'' for our NYS.We have got so many horses and im sure the stud farms would love to sell some of their horses before they go to the NYS.We all know the cost and gamble of getting your horses to the sales, and i was also a breeder with success, but i have also had to buy back a horse that never reached its reserve. This breeding game is a long and painfull game, and is certainlly not for the faint hearted. Its like throwing money into a wishing well, and at the end of the day you are blinded by the thought, that you are going to clean up at the sales.Im afraid its not like that, but if you are cash flush, and dont do sums because you are a gambler,it can come back and bite you.So my advice is leave the NYS sales for the elite, and stick to our ready to run sales. Now lets see if i can bundle up this NYS 2011 catalogue, and practice what ive preached,if i fail ill blame it on gambling.
