Saksy, the risks far outweigh the advantages.....imo a horse is a horse and if run over a distance to which it isn't accustomed to it could break his heart, spirit whatever.
Imagine he trails in 20 lengths or so back and he never raises a gallop in another race again........no more breeding value, no more nothing value.....

I would have loved to have seen Sea the Stars race another season but at the end of the day the correct decision was made! Here is the same thing, the preservation of the horse, it's BEST form as well as its breeding future!

Let him beat everything over 1600m. Winning a 1 1/2 mile race on a difficult race course against grade 1 opposition is not easy for a horse who stays all day......for a sprint miler to win it???!?!??!!??! Not for me thanks!

Now thats the call, do you go for the third leg of the triple crown and get into the history books, would have been 1/10 for the St Leger, or do you go for the ARC the greatest/hardest race on the planet, the great Nijinsky got the triple crown and got beaten short head in the ARC, did the St Leger just take the edge of the champ? A bridge too far?
