Scotia on Champions Day

Good morning to the Clan and hope you all had a good Easter break?
We found ourselves in the Midlands Meander, Summerveld and Clarens and let me just say we had a wonderful time.
Only damper on the trip was the "short" stay at the Nottingham Hotel which was a disaster, apart from the pub vibe in the evening but accommodation is dreadful, no hot water and shocking appearance, however many great places to visit in the area and well worth the trip.
Summerveld was awesome and thanks again to Mike (at Laffertys) and Craig Eudey for making the visit special.
If you have never been to Clarens, give this place a visit, just like a small Swiss town in appearance, many small interesting shops and probably the best electric violinist I have heard to give the evenings a great vibe.
Here are a few pic's as Rod Stewart would say "every picture tells a story".
welcome to the hotel Califonia
escape to the Protea in Clarens
Miss Diana checking the visitors
scotia meets the good looking Thandolwami
Summerveld for breakfast
the band at friends in Clarens
Now lets talk about this weekend and some great racing.
Frankel 6/10 runs in the 2000 gns at Newmarket and we have Igugu 1/10, What a Winter 12/10, Dancewiththedevil 18/10 and many more to entertain us locally and we should have a great day at the big T.
We have our normal superb contributions on the forum in addition to the sad news with the passing away of Mr Peter Miller, condolences and strenght to his family and friends
JJ the Jet Plane returning to SA due to injury and the great sire Sadlers Wells moving to greener pastures.
Our exciting competitions coming to month end..
Sporting Post

Gambling Board
Sports and Odds'n Ends
Football: looks like a Barcelona 6/10 vs Manchester United 18/10 final and should be a great hard fought contest.
In England Chelsea vs Spurs and Arsenal vs Man Utd not to be missed and Man City best bet.
Rugby: Stormers vs Sharks is the big game and probably the way to go is an ATC with Bulls/Crusaders/Reds/Stormers.
Idols: still wide open where Scotty/James/Lauren topping the boards but Casey/Haley/Jacob still in with a shout.
Just to get you in the mood for the great days racing on Sat. here was my fav 2000 gns in 1971 although my hero "Mill Reef" ran second another great era for horse racing ..................
Watch the race
Good punting and may your God be with you.

Hi Dave
Great having you here and if any other clan members would like to come around the stables and Summerveld just

Thank you very much. Horses come 1st and no need for a dirty or untidy stable.
