Winning Ways..........your views?
14 years 3 weeks ago
Good evening guys and as normal a good show, with 3 to follow, blast for the past, current affairs etc and the guest was Ken Rutherford (Tellytrack) I felt the cricket was a bit long worded and boring, not being a fan and him being a harness fan a bit "scary" however he would appear to have a handle on the current problems re: tellytrack, second channel, quality racing etc and hope he can make some changes.

very poor interview from jg ,he was very poorly prepared for it and he concentrated on his cricket career instead of his media appointment...as far as kr answers go there will be zero difference to ch 232

I'm with pirates on this one,I haven't seen any improvement on tt and until we source the real professionals from outside racing there will be no change. USO is probably the first show that needs a shake up,bring in guys like Robert Bloomberg,Rob Champion, Mark Wilmot and Rod Bechus, I think winning ways is normally top class so this week might have been their off day.

Piss poor interviewing and i was also annoyed with the 7 minutes of Cricket talk..and what about ''i wanna let you in on a secret James, I LOVE HARNESS RACING.''
Laughable and now he is in charge of TT?? Sure he seemed to know a bit but an ex cricketer running Telly track is like Alex Ferguson taking over the MDK string, just because he is a good soccer manager.
''DSTV are really not interested in a second channel." Worrying comment that.

I picked up from the interview that he is in favor of 'growing the sport' and then the 'betting growth will follow' - great idea - but I did not hear any plans/ideas on how this was going to be achieved.
And then there was really bad news in terms of the 2nd channel (yes I live in la-la land); Mr Rutherford would like to see that happen, but the problem lies with Multichoice who are totally against the idea of having a 2nd racing channel - and I did not get the impression that any plans were afoot from PGE/Tellytrack's side to convince Multichoice that it would be worth their while. So I'm afraid (speaking for myself) that we are stuck with the chariots from Aus and Sweden and the delightful racing from places like Ngong:(

After watching that its hard to be positive about things getting better at tellytrack. Mr Rutherford seems to have ideas but not sure how hes going to implement them even he doesnt seem to have a plan. Oh well same old .

I recall a number of other providers getting awarded Satellite TV licenses a while back? Not sure if these have launched or are planning to launch and no idea what TT relationship is with Multichoice but you would think that for a provider looking to get some market share that targeting TT to come over and throwing in a 2nd channel would be a great move. Virtually every horse racing fan would have little choice but to sign up if TT moved from multichoice.

I did not enjoy the Rutherford / Goodman show on monday evening. It was boring and uninspiring. We should have a poll setup to determine which type of racing appeals to the masses. I personally won't be ticking cart and hurdle events.
