An army transport plane has taken off from a military airport in the Czech capital to take four rare wild horses to Mongolia as part of the Prague Zoo's efforts to reintroduce the endangered species to its native habitat.
The three mares and a stallion will be taken on a 6 000km flight. They will continue another 280km on two trucks to the western Mongolian reserve of Khomiin Tal.
The Przewalski horse became extinct in the wild in the late 1960s or early 1970s.(tu)
