RACING ADDICTS.
13 years 11 months ago
Are we all racing addicts,i would say yes, why because we all know at the end of the day we are going to be losers. But we all come back for the big payday, when i dont know, why, because we are junkies,we are all wishing for a superstar as owners, chances 1 in a million, conclusion feed our habit till we die, theory, dont stop, have your say why we still punt and enjoy this addiction. As much as we bitch and moan, corruption has not stopped us,but we all carry on come rain, abandoned meetings,or whatever,we still come back for more.Racing addicts, thats for sure.

Addiction is a primary, chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry. Dysfunction in these circuits leads to characteristic biological, psychological, social and spiritual manifestations. This is reflected in the individual pursuing reward and/or relief by substance use and other behaviors. The addiction is characterized by impairment in behavioral control, craving, inability to consistently abstain, and diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships. Like other chronic diseases, addiction can involve cycles of relapse and remission. Without treatment or engagement in recovery activities, addiction is progressive and can result in disability or premature death.

Yip, I remember my first bet and a winning one. A $1 swinger with No Respite and State Visit some 35 years ago... I think it paid $3.20

Mac to answer your question,i owned my first horse called Ribomex out of Mexico 2,which was trained by M.Azzie.The horse was a sprinter and its first run the horse was beaten by the distance. On the second attempt 'KERTHISE',at huge odds of 33-1,and not fancied for obvious reasons.I looked at the winning photo, and in bold black writing,Ribomex 17/7/1985.R6 800 Maiden Juvenile C G 1000m.2.Scotch Join, distance 0.10m.Owners myself and Scotia. To tell you the bug had bitten in the 70s when i caught a R 8.00 Bi-pot which paid close to R1100-00,which was huge in those days for a guy that was only a pin ball wizard, come disco kid.

Dumela zoro had a check at the stair case and seen 1983 Mucho Hombre but sure when he won it was only Roy and me left in the 10 strong syndicate. Hell it was 28 years ago ! plus we have 3 chances to add to the wall this week
