how clever they are by when they get to know that a horse is going to be scratched they claim it so the deduction on winning bets becomes that much bigger...its happening way to often and its about to happen at this weekends gold cup meeting again...

even worse...i saw a horse shorten when it bolted from the start and all in sundry knew it would be scratched as soon as they took it in hand.....albeit it was a horse race in my opinion...(betting 14/10 and 2/1)..the 2/1 shot bolted....but ws backed into 15/10.....quite quite ridiculous....would have accepted it if the favourite drifed a bit....but no....just plain robbery.

Question has to be; did the eventual winner drift at the time? Just back the winner and you will be ok every time! LOL!!!

the eventuall winner was the 14/10 horse.....but the bookies just screwed me for an extra 5%(difference between 2/1 deuction and 15/10 deduction).......another issue with deductions.....who authorises the deductions table........i remember any horse over 10/1..never carried a deduction ...now i see there are deductions carried all the way upto 20/1...that is bull.....they dont bet to 100% for them to justify the deuctions of horses priced up over 10/1.
another issue is the number of late scratchings at the start.....sometimes 2 or 3...and each time its eating into my bet....some of those 16/1"s should never have been that price (no chance of winning),....but yet it decimates my odds.....marshalls world of sport have a rule still
with the old system....no deductions over 10/1 and their deductions are done on their displayed prices....their displayed prices includes the stretches....sometimes their stretches are insane....eg.on monday...the miller horse in the first...Tripartite...on course even money....MARSHALLS...18/10....and most of the times they have a 10-20%stretch built in.....so u save on the deductions as well

That Bookie from the Cape I cannot remember his name] who was on Teletrack every Saturday, a year or so ago, explained it all, it is now horses at 20/1 and less and the minimum is 5%.
But I agree it is a total rip off, there are horse paying R30 and R50 on the Tote and the Bookies are pricing up 20's bar, which entitles them to the deduction
