13 years 10 months ago
Hi Guys, have not posted for a long time.... I have shares in numerous horses, recently 2 of my horses had scopes done without my knowledge.
I have had no feedback from my trainer, tried phoning the Vet, it has been a week and still no feedback from the Vet....
All i want is to know the outcome of the scopes, am i asking for too much......
What should my next steps be....

Send the vet an email asking his the reasons for the scope and the results thereof.
If he does not respond , tell him you are not paying and sent a copy of the mail to the NHRA and your trainer.

What should my next steps be....
My next step should be to sell the horses and never buy another one. Spend more on your family and yourself and rather buy lottery tickets in search of your dreams.

That's exactly how we are feeling at the moment.

I understand that Vets are needed but the vet bills every month is gonna drive more people away from owing horses rather than bringing them into the game. Are there any private vets that one can get.
Cheers

It takes about 7 years to become a vet I think - but from the bills I've seen and received only another seven to get RICH - SHANKS MOVE your horses asap as your trainer has little regard for you and your money - Owners need to realise that trainers, jockeys, vets etc are no different from any other service providers and as the great Felix Coetzee noted South Africa(in general) needs to move towards service excellence.

Vet bills are very high, a few months ago our Vet bill was higher than our training fees

I had my jack russel spayed a few months back, I think it came to over a grand! They are more expensive than doctors some times.

Shanks..do yourself a favour mate..get the cost of the scope done on your horse...then phone your closest private hospital Netcare, Life or Mediclinic and ask them for a quote fot a G- Scope to be done on yourself...then compare ther prices mate!
Just remember for a G-Scope on yourself it would include theatre time, an anaesthetist and a Gastro who will take photos and give you feedback before you are discharged to go home.
You will want to kill when you see how much a scope on a horse costs which is often just done in the stable..
