i heard karl neisius mention on the cape awards that mr abercrombie had passed away...one of the legends of the game but i havent seen any mention of it anywhere,i was wondering if the industry had made any announcement in this regard?

Sad news :( was one of the greats of SA racing, sure some of the older posters have a few memories?

ABERCROMBIE BERT We are saddened by the passing of a wonderful horseman and in his day, a great jockey. Condolences to his wife Mary and family.

He was one of the few that won the July both as a jockey (Jamaican Music) and as a trainer (Bush Telegraph).

Shame RIP Bert...I watched that Jamaican Music win at the movies in Pinetown a week later..grey... start to finish..I think owned by the Pinetown bookies?..Great ride!!
