Home Remedies for Horses
13 years 9 months ago
I thought i would post a few and see if any opinion if they work or not.
Arthritic and Joint
Acetyl-d-glucosamine it comes in a 5 and 10% solution instead of adaquine injections
Apple Cider Vinegar:
To lessen the number of gnats and flies that bother your horse, put a small amount of apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and spray on. Apple cider vinegar has also been connected to calming a nervous horse, easing itchy skin, and aiding the treatment of arthritis and joint pain. Add ½ to ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar to your horse’s feed once per day.
Red Pepper:
If a horse has the nasty habit of chewing on leg wraps or anything else you don’t want bothered, use red pepper as a solution. The spicy taste is not a favorite of horses. Smear a coat of Vaseline on a surface you wish to protect, and then sprinkle on a sufficient amount of red pepper.
Epsom salt- This stuff is great for hoof abscesses, sore legs and stone bruises. Get a large tub or bucket and fill it with warm, not hot water. Then mix in plenty of Epsom salts and stir well. Soak your horse for as long as they will let you- about 15-20 twice a day until you start to see improvement. Epsom salt takes the sore away and helps to draw out infection.
Feed Gobblers:
If your horse gobbles grain, you can slow him down by placing two or three large rocks (bigger than they can swallow) into the grain bowl. This will cause him to eat around the rocks and will slow down most horses.
do these work? are there anymore?

As a kid, I remember Elliman's Rubbing Eases Pain ointment which was for horses.
Don't hear of it any more?
