@Rob F
I bow to your obvious superiority in all fields...wet or dry
but i would take my chances with your mate that lives near the course and sms'd you at 6am to say that there had been no rain...with an average pen reading of 32..he is either telling you "pork pies" or is a very heavy sleeper..
Give everything but up!

If they expecting ''heavy rain'' on Sunday, why not race at Clairwood on saturday and Big T Sunday... Surely it's not too late to do this?

I'm not in Durban itself but judging by the weather we have had in Kloof yesterday afternoon, last night and this morning, i woke up convinced that their would be no racing at greyville tonight!

ever since i been involved in racing i have always wondered whether being an IDIOT was par fro the game...greyville received plenty of rain last night (my office is less than 1km away)...the weatherman has predicted more rain friday afternoon...now its pouring down at greyville...why would the operator want to cancel a meeting that falls on a month end...really some of the posters on this site talk crap...

then myself and plenty other racegoers that were at greyville club tab at lunchtime today must all be idiots...left at 3pm and thats what you call pouring then we will never race again when the dogs that walk on that course after 5pm decide to have a piss on it...

gold circle got this abandonement very very wrong...if we had 2mils of rain today at around 3pm its a lot...gold cup day the track was in a far worse condition than today and considering they havent raced on it for 2 months....they can say all they want to in their press releases bullshit baffles brains scenario...

Pirates... You are 100 % correct...
Was at the racecourse at 6 am yesterday and this morning for my daily run..err..I mean walk...track was fine.. Also spoke to the guys that look after the course.. And the guys that take the pen readings... They all said Racing should NOT have been cancelled.. They have had meetings go ahead in worse conditions...actually they were shocked that they didn't race...
