Going Racing - the cost

Saturday at Ascot/Championships Day = £19.00 train fare from London to Ascot, £26 Grandstand entrance, or £40 Premier. Lunch approx £20. Not including drinks and betting
how does this compare in other parts of the world?

Must say have been racing overseas and it costs plenty, SA must still rate the cheapest place to race, it's normally free enterance facilities are world class and good food at a reasonable price IMO

Went to Scottsville about 3 months ago, entrance was free for the seven of us, very nice Sunday buffet at R85/head, and drinks were very reasonable I was told (but I wasn't paying so don't remember the cost). Oh, and to get there ... it's in the suburb of Scottsville so from my parents' house about 8 km, two cars, maybe R30 there and back. Parking is free and plenty of it, pick and choose where you'd like to put your car (but no covered parking). So for Sunday lunch and an afternoon's entertainment (and those that prefer can go to the casino, entrance is next door), total cost minus drinks was less than R100/head.
