Alastair seems to be a case of so far so good and will definitely improve.

Clyde: Still one of the best around and always gives a good finish, and goes though the whole field always.

Dumpy: Terrible caller, when i worked overseas for a bookie the racing traders used get me to watch the PE races with them to help them understand his commentary.

in the Cape, Jehan is a decent caller and is streets ahead of anyone else there.

Prefer Craig Peters to Sheldon to be honest.

Please note i am not knocking these gentlemen, it is a very hard job,and i have always wanted to be a commentator...Overseas they have a commentary school where you can learn if you have potential, wish there was something like that over here..

2cents Dumpy adds nothing to racing and turns every race into a guessing game for punters that are listening to his calls without the luxury of television. I have often thought of going to see an optometrist after watching a race called by him (thankfully the official results often set things right) - It seems too many people in Phumelela have a soft spot for him but I assure you punters have a different view but they are just the fools that deserve what they get. 20 years of Auditory abuse and still nothing is done - Poor Poor

Even when watching a race with my own eyes that Dumpy calls i still wait for the all clear before i get excited about the result.

Dumpy is useless and they won't get rid of him.. too long there, impossible for anyone else to take over..Sentiments take precedence over sense.
