The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on Tuesday 1st November, Jockey Andrew Fortune appeared before the Board with regard to his riding of WINTER DYNASTY in the 6th Race at Durbanville Racecourse, on 22nd October 2011. After a detailed review of the head on and side on video evidence, and consideration of the evidence from Jockey A Fortune and Trainer Y Govender, the Board decided to take no further action.

As far as I know, Andrew is taking a voluntary break. And, whatever his faults, to describe him as racing's greatest failure after he brought himself back from the brink of self destruction to win a championship is hugely unfair. It was one of the greatest comebacks in any sport, ever, and nothinfg will change that even if he never rides another winner.
