Is there any significance in that they are all locally breds?......can't imagine why that could be.
Coincidence I hope!

Yip. There's a gene found only in stallions conceived south of the tropic, which communicates with the NHA web site's sire log, which activates an enzyme in April, triggering in November, if to the left of the Breede River if you view it with the sunset to your back....LOL-sometimes things are conspiring against us.

I have a mate who is very new to the forum and is keen to take a couple of shares in horses. When he read this thread he phoned and asked if it meant he should be avoiding home bred stallions.
I obviously pointed out that there was no common cause in the cases and even if there had been it would have to be linked to some local gene pool,so it had to be pure coincidence and timing IMO.
I now have to confess: I pointed out that the one negative of forums is the reactions at times.I suggested we post his observation and see what happens as there are a number of small breeders who post regularly.
Mission accomplished!

Rob - one stallion developing arthritic changes in his neck and another suffering a digestive ailment (both of which are pretty common conditions) is hardly cause for suspecting a general malaise on all South African stallions.
By that token the fact that Uncle Mo contracted a mysterious stomach virus and A.U. Miner fractured his sesamoids during this year's Breeders' Cup should be reason to boycott American stallions.
